Grenoble is surrounded by three mountain ranges: Chartreuse, Vercors and Belledonnes. During this trip we visited lower parts of Belledonnes. We set off from the city as usual.
We enter the mountains in Domene and climb to Revel. After a minor descent we climb further to la Croix de Pinet. We rest a bit during a slight descent and then with a final climb to le Rousset we reach the highest point of the trip. After that point we descend to Domene.
The trip explores beautiful areas of lower Belladonnes. The roads are picturesque and of good quality. The car traffic is low. The climbs are not too steep but remarkable views at the valleys are guaranteed.
If you feel tired at Revel, you can have an option to shorten the trip and save one climb by continuing along D11 till les Faures.
As we did this trip in spring, we found that the Pont Rajas bridge had beed destroyed by the white waters. Be prepared for any surprise ;-)
