1. Etappe Saar - Mosel
Von Saarbrücken nach Merzig sind es nur knapp 52 Kilometer. Darin enthalten ist ein Abstecher zum Weltkulturerbe, der Völklinger Hütte. Wir haben diese nicht besucht, da es doch recht viel Zeit in Anspruch nimmt (ca. 7 km Besichtigungsstrecke). Dennoch empfehlen wir bei entsprechender Zeitplanung einen Besuch.
Die Strecken sind überwiegend asphaltiert und leicht zu fahren. Wir sind kurz vor Merzig noch über Menningen und Bietzen gefahren. Dieser Umweg hatte allerdings eine entsprechende Steigung und wir würden in diesem Bereich insbesondere für Kinder die Tour entlang der Saar empfehlen.
