Von der Ortsmitte Schönau am Königssee gehts gleich recht steil hoch in Richtung Kehlstein. Die letzten Kilometer laufen entlang der nur für Busverkehr freigegebenen Kehlstein-Straße. Nach der wohlverdienten Gipfelrast am Kehlsteinhaus (leider unter recht vielen Bustouristen) aber dafür mit schönster Aussicht rundum, geht es auf der anderen Bergseite bergab nach Berchtesgaden und eben zurück nach Schönau.
