Die Strecke ist sehr gut befahrbar, allerdings im Bereich der Steigung in Alpen durch den Wald auf unbefestigtem Boden (auf ca. 220 Meter Länge eine Höhendifferenz von ungefär 25 Meter), muss das Bike geschoben werden. Mit dem Mountain-Bike kein Problem. Ansonsten auch mit Rennrad befahrbar.
Die Strecke führt an vier Mühlen vorbei (Ossenberg, Sonsbeck, Xanten und Menzeln).
Die schönste Mühle ist die Krimhildmühle in Xanten. Diese Mühle ist noch voll funktionsfähig und an den Tagen mit Wind immer in Betrieb (Besichtigung der kompletten Mühle möglich). Dort wird noch ganz traditionel Korn gemahlen und daraus sehr schmackhaftes Brot gebacken. Sehr empfehlenswert !! Mehr (Öffnungszeiten usw.), über den angegebenen Link.
