Die Wanderung beginnt am Bahnhof in Solingen-Schaberg (Bahnlinie Solingen-Ohligs - Wuppertal Barmen) und führt zunächst unterhalb der Müngstener Brücke oberhalb der Wupper entlang. Der Wanderweg wird verlassen und der Weg geht über Felder nach Dorperhof. An der alten Radrennbahn vorbei geht es nun über Wiesenkotten zum Hermann-Löns-Denkmal, wieder im Wald oberhalb der Wupper.
Der Weg windet sich den Hang hinunter bis knapp oberhalb der Wupper und führt flussaufwärts bis nach Solingen Burg. Anschließend geht es dem Müngstener Brückenweg weiter bis zur Müngstener Brücke und durch den Wald bergan nach Schaberg.
