This track describes the last stage of the Trans Rhodopean Trail "Rudopia". It links the town of Madjarovo with the village of Mezek located some 13 km from Svilengrad on the Bulgarian / Greek / Turkish border. Half of the route follows an aspahlt road and half of it is on forest road on the top the ridge called "Gorata". Along the route you will visit a couple of nice villages and a few historical sites most interesting of which are the "Gluhite Kamani" - stone sanctuary, the medieval fortress "Mezek" and the Thracian tomb "Mezek".
The second part of the route has not enough water spring so you should consider this fact, especially during the summer months when the region is hot.
