Die Wanderung beginnt an den Tennisplätzen in Obertal-Buhlbach. Hier geht ein schöner Wanderweg steil hinauf zur Branntweinhäfelehütte. Von hier sind es noch ca. 3 km bis zur Rosshütte, die wir allerdings rechts liegen lassen und nach links abbiegen. Nach weiteren 300 m nehmen wir die Abzweigung in Richtung Hoher Kopf und Burgkopf. Hier kann man noch wenige schöne Aussichten nach Obertal und Buhlbach geniessen, die aber in ein paar Jahren zugewachsen sein werden. Nach ca. 4 km erreicht man die Walterhütte, an der wir nach links abbiegen. Nach der Walterhütte geht es wieder abwärts in Richtung zur Schießanlage Obertal und zurück zu den Tennisplätzen in der Buhlbachsaue
