Der Weg führt von Rhaunen auf dem kürzeseten Weg zum Idarkopf. Die letzen 2 km sind sehr steil. Zurück geht es über die Südseite vorbei an der Kappelbach, den Hottenbacher Mühlen und dem Hochwälder Hof.
