Wir starten auf der Passhöhe der Kesselbergstraße. Zunächst auf einem Forstweg bergauf durch den Wald, bis der Weg die Skipiste trifft. Jetzt immer der Piste oder dem Fußweg entlang bis kurz vor das Herzogstandhaus. Jetzt biegen wir links ab bis oberhalb der Herzogstandbahn. Gipfelrast ist an einer kleinen Bergkapelle neben dem Schlepplift. Zurück fahren wir, nach dem Abfellen, durch die unpräparierte Piste diretissima bis wir wieder auf die Piste treffen. Jetzt gehts die Piste entlang bis wir wieder auf den Forstweg treffen und auf diesem zurück zur Passhöhe gelangen. Das Skigebiet Herzogstand ist nur noch am Wochenende offen und ein wahrer Treff der Skitourengeher.

BAB A 95 bis zur AS Murnau/Kochel, auf der Bundesstraße bis Kochel und weiter Richtung Urfeld auf der Kesselbergstraße. Kurz vor der kurz nach der Passhöhe sind Parkplätze.
