The tour starts at Argoulias,one of the finest hotels/lodges in the Lassithi plateau. When you leave the village of Tzermiado follow the marks to 'Karfi'. The asphalt road bcomes a jeep track at the Nissimosplateau.
At the plateau you have the choise to go onwards to the village of Krasi (in the Iraklio region) or to mount Karfi.
Whe followed first to Krasi and came back via the ancient site of Karphi and mount Karfi, then decending backwards to the Nissimosplateau.
Between the ridge after the Nissimosplateau (the Iraklio-Lassithi border)and the split of the Krasi/Karfi path there is a steep downhill with some rockclimbing.
So it would be easier to pass first to Karfi and return via the ridge becaus it is easier to clim up than to climb down.
The path over the Menoian Karphi site (there only remains a still working spring and some walls)and mount Karfi is very beatifull wit some amazing vieuws over the surrounding gorges and Lassithi plateau.
