Vom Hotel in Bad Hofgastein geht es hauptsächlich über Forststraßen bis zur Grubhütte. Ab da geht es über einen Steig zum Rauchkogel. Da wir bei Schnee ab der Grubhütte aufgestiegen sind, ist die Markierung des Weges nicht mehr zu erkennen. Die Steigspuren waren nur schlecht zu ersehen bis zum Grat, der zum Rauchkogel führt. Am Rachkogel traumhafte Fernsicht. Siehe Fotos. Retour ging es über den gleichen Weg. Am Grat ist die Tour teilweise ausgestzt. Für Kinder unter 6 Jahren ist die Tour nicht geeignet!
