Auf dem hochgelegenen Weg nach Hohenschwangau lichtet sich der Wald immer wieder mal, so dass man in der Ferne den Foggensee sehen kann.
Der rot markierte Steig ist schmal, steinig und zeitweise recht ausgesetzt. Er ist nur für schwindelfreie und trittsichere Wanderer geeignet. Für alle anderen gibt es gelb markierte breitere Forstwege als Alternative.
Nach gut einer Stunde Wanderung rückt das Schloss Hohenschwangau ins Blickfeld.
