Start am Bahnhof Kaulsdorf
Zubringerstrecke auf der Straße nach Hohenwarte zur Staumauer (Saaleradweg)- dieser wenig attraktive Abschnitt ist aber zum Glück schnell vergessen.
Befahrung des Wanderweges Rund um den Hohenwartestausee nach "Umrundung Hohenwarte Talsperre 2011 on GPSies.com", Markierung "roter Punkt"
Dabei werden verschiedene Aussichtspunkte passiert - leider hätte man die Strecke anders herrum fahren müssen um in den Genuß der Abfahrt bei der Teufelskanzel zu kommen. Die anderen Abfahrten sind aber trotzdem gut. Teilsweise sind größere Steine und Wurzeln, 2 längere Treppen und leicht ausgesetzte Abschnitte zu beachten.
Es folgt der letzte Anstieg über Schotter und Asphalt und die Abfahrt nach Pößneck zum unteren Bahnhof.
