Der Weg beginnt vor dem Rathaus in Leimen. Er hat die Bezeichnung "L1 Sankt Ilgener Weg". Es sind insgesamt 6 L Wege ausgeschildert. L steht für Leimen. Alle Wege sind Rundwege und so angelegt und beschildert, dass sie in beide Richtungen zu laufen sind. Vorbei an Feldern, Spielplätzen und historischen Gebäuden führt der L1 durchgängig über geteerte Wege. Daher ist er auch für Kinderwagen geeignet.
