Startpunkt ist die Sportanlage Heinrichstraße in Bochum Gerthe.
Von hier aus geht es über Feldwege und Nebenstraßen über Do- Merklinde nach Castrop-Rauxel.
Der Weg zum Rhein-Herne-Kanal führt zwar an einer Hauptstraße entlang, aber es sind bis auf ein paar Meter gut ausgebaute Fahrradwege vorhanden.
Am Kanal geht es über Schotterwege, also besser nicht mit dem Rennrad.
In Herne geht es vorbei am Schloss Strünkede über den Stadtkern zum Volkpark Sodingen. Von hier aus könnte man auch einen Abstecher in den Revierpark Gysenberg machen.
Den lassen wir aber rechts liegen und sind auch wieder fast am Ziel.
