Der Rundweg A1 beginnt am Wanderparkplatz Nachtigallstraße und führt von dort vorbei am Schloss Steinhausen und der Burgruine Hardenstein durch den Stadtforst Muttental.
Achtung! Dies ist die alte Wegführung bis 2008!
Der Weg wurde umgelegt und hat nun teilweise eine neu gekennzeichnete Wegführung. Der hier beschriebene Weg führt daher auch durch nicht gezeichnete Bereiche, die teilweise zugewachsen und als Weg nicht mehr erkennbar sind.
Einkehrmöglichkeiten gibt es im Schloss Steinhausen und in der Gaststätte „Alte Tür“ an der Berghauser Straße.

Bus bis Haltestelle Witten Bommern Bahnhof (Linien 378, 379 oder 591). Von dort geht es ein Stück über die Nachtigallstraße bis zum Wanderparkplatz.
