Eine der seltsamsten Erscheinungen in ihrem Verlauf zeigt die Donau nahe der Ortschaft Schlögen. In einem riesigen "S" sucht sie sich ihren Lauf durch den Mühlviertler Granit, tief eingebettet in eine romantische Landschaft. Kein Wunder also dass Camper, Wassersportler und Radfahrer das Ufer bevölkern, aber nur wenige sich die Zeit und Mühe nehmen, auf die Hochfläche hinaufzusteigen und von netten Aussichtsplatzerln aus, den Donaulauf zu besichtigen.
