Nach ca 2 km Straße gehts auf den Mommelsteinradweg (ehem. Bahntrasse), dann nach ca 5 km gehts auf Schotter und Waldwegen über den Mommelstein (Einkehr möglich) zum Kleinen Inselsberg(Gaststätte). Von da aus zum Gr. Inselsberg( 916m, steil, Asphalt). Nach einer guten Aussicht in alle Richtungen gehts auf dem Rennsteig zurück ( Kl. Inselsberg, Ebertswiese). Nach einer Rast am Bergsee geht die Abfahrt zum Ausgangspunkt los (teils Singletrails).
