Der erste Teil der Tour führt von Saarbrücken grob Richtung Norden nach 55 km zum Bostalsee. Abgesehen von wenigen sehr steilen Stellen sind die Steigungen bis dahin noch recht gut zu bewältigen. Danach wird die Strecke anspruchsvoller, die Steigungen länger und steiler. Da ist für den weniger geübten Fahrer schieben angesagt.
