Von der Bergstation der Ankogelbahn geht es in nord-östlicher, später in östlicher Richtung über den Goslarer Weg bis zum Abzweig (Hinweistafel) zum Anstieg über das Lassacger Kees. Über dieses (im Jahr der Begehung generell noch sehr viel Schnee) hinauf zum kleinen Ankogel. Über den steilen und schmalen Südgrat auf den Ankogel. Der Abstieg verlief über den Anstiegsweg.

Von Norden über die Tauernautobahn bis Spital, weiter durch das Mölltal bis Obervellach und durch das Mallnitztal bis zum Ort Mallnitz. Noprdlich in das Seebachtal und wenige Kilometer bis zur Talstation der Ankogelbahn.
Für die Rückfahrt auf die Nordseite des Alpenhauptkammes habe ich die Tauernschleuse (Mallnitz-Böckstein) ins Gasteinertal genutzt.
