Startpunkt der Tour ist ein kleiner Parkplatz beim Brauhaus Ehrstein. Die Wanderung führt zunächst über eine kleine Anhöhe entlang des Ortsrands von Hinterweidenthal. Danach geht auf einem gut ausgebauten Radweg parallel zur Wieslauter zum Heufelsen, bevor die Tour anschließend Richtung Westen abbiegt. Der Weg führt um den Etschberg herum und folgt dem Verlauf des Salzbachs bis kurz vor dem Teufelstisch, zu dem ein kleiner schmaler Pfad hinauf führt. Es ist außerordentlich beeindruckend den Teufelstisch aus der Nähe zu betrachten. Der Weg zurück zum Parkplatz ist von dort nur noch ein kleiner Katzensprung.
