Start der Tour ist in St.Jean de la Maurienne.Von hier geht es zunächst zum Col du Mollard.Dann,nach 400 Hm Abfahrt, geht es zunächst sanft,dann aber immer steiler werdend zum Col de la Croix de Fer hinauf.Nun beginnt die,nur durch einen kurzen Zwischenanstieg zum Col du Glandon unterbrochene Abfahrt ins Tal der Arc.
