Der Weg beginnt und endet am Gallarus Oratory, einem sehr gut erhaltenen Bethaus aus dem 8. Jahrhundert. Anschließend folgt man dem Pilgerweg, der weiter südlich in Ventry beginnt und nach Norden bis an den Fuß des Mount Brandon führt. Daher lässt sich der Weg in beide Richtungen beliebig verlängern.
Für irische Verhältnisse ist der Weg sehr ordentlich beschildert. Im ersten Teil geht's vor allem über kleine Teerstraßen. Ab der Ruine der Kilmalkedar Church kommt der schönste Teil über Weiden und Feldwege mit tollen Ausblicken auf Smerwick Harbour und Mount Brandon.
