Aus dem Edertal geht es auf dem Linspherradweg bis Winterberg, von dort aus über Altastenberg in das schöne Sorpetal. Ab Gleidorf wird der Sauerland-Radring bis Wennemen genutzt (alte Bahntrasse), wo der Ruhrtalradweg erreicht wird. Diesem folgt die Strecke bis auf einige Abkürzungen weitgehend bis Schwerte.

Im Edertal besteht Bahnanschluss in Frankenberg (8 km von Allendorf/Eder entfernt). In Schwerte fahren Regionalzüge in Richtung Köln, Dortmund, Hagen, Hamm/Münster und Kassel.
