Von Schmalegg geht es über Horgenzell nach Danketsweiler. Anschliessend hinunter nach Hasenweiler, weiter nach Zußdorf. Von hier sind dann ca. 300 HM bis zum Gasthaus Höchsten auf gut ausgebauten Forstwegen zu fahren. Am Gasthaus Höchsten (800m) angekommen geht es bergab über Wahlweiler nach Deggenhausen (550m). Richtung Norden geht es erneut in den Anstieg zum Aussichtspunkt Höchsten (830m). Zwischen Lehenhof und Lichtenegg müssen ca 25% Steigung (Teer) auf ca. 300m Länge bewältigt werden. Am Aussichtspunkt vorbei geht es bergab im Wald über Einhalden nach Hasenweiler zur Haslachmühle und über Pfärrenbach, Winterbach, Horgenzell zurück nach Schmalegg.
