Nice trip to the Brocken. Fairly steep gravelroads (big gravel and big stones) on the first half of the tour. The last 2.7 km of the 1st half are tarmac. We made a walk on top of the Brocken to see all the views possible, took a drink and decided to walk back to Schierke. The first 1.4 km of the walk back are made of tarmac. We decided to walk back another route than we came. A very steep and cliffy track which gives you a lot of fun.
Much more fun than the way up, but we advice to take this track only on the way down.
After a while you walk next to a beautiful creek in which you can cool yourself down.
A few km later you're back in Schierke.
Great walk you can do in just under 5 hours including a drink and toilet visit on top.

Many parkings available in Schierke. We took a very quiet parking on the Bodeweg. Easy to get a spot there compared to the big parking on the other side of Schierke.
