Vom Bahnhof Papenburg ist nach kurzer Fahrt in Höhe „Wehrdeich“ die Dortmund-Ems-Kanal-Route wieder erreicht. Entlang der Deiche geht es über Leer und Ditzum – Petkum (Emsfähre) nach Emden. In Höhe des Borßumer Kanals ist eine Baustelle, die sich einfach umfahren lässt (Stand: August 2012). Nach einer Runde durch die Innenstadt geht es zum Hbf.
