Eine familientaugliche Tour, mit Kindern sollte ein halber Tag geplant werden .
Sie beginnt in Goldkronach, den Weg hinab ins Maintal kann man abhängig vom Verkehr und der Verkehrssicherheit Kinder wählen, die Variante des Rückweges ist für Autos gesperrt. Nach der Überquerung der B303 erreicht man den Radweg, eine ehemalige Bahnstrecke die unterhalb von Bischofsgrün (Glasermühle) endet. Auf der Straße hoch nach Bischofsgrün und in der Ortsmitte an einer Y-Gabelung hoch zum Wanderparkplatz Vogelherd. Dort können die Räder an einer Infotafel angekettet werden, dann geht es zu Fuß weiter. Ein steiler und steiniger Pfad führt bis zum Gipfel. Vom Asenturm hat man eine tolle Rundumsicht auf das Fichtelgebirge, eine Einkehr ist auch möglich (Montag Ruhetag). Diese Tour führt auf dem gleichen Weg wieder zurück.
