Vom Parkplatz direkt beim Forsthaus Heldenstein führt der Weg (gelb/weiß) im Hollerbachtal hinunter zum Helmbachweiher - der Bauchlauf mit vielen Mäandern ist sehr idyllisch an zusehen. Vom Weiher geht es anschließend auf einem kleinen, schmalen, mit Tannennadeln und Blätter weich gepolsterten, sehr schönen Pfad (gelb grünes Kreuz) wieder kontinuierlich bergauf bis zu einem Forstwirtschaftsweg. Der grün weiß gekennzeichnete Weg ist gut ausgebaut und führt relativ eben vorbei am Schuhmacherstiefel, ein paar Bänken die zum Picknick einladen und ein sehr schöner Ausblick auf den Pfälzerwald zurück zum Forsthaus.
