Auf dem Weg zum Etappenziel Aurich lohnt sich ein Abstecher zum "Ewigen Meer". Die Stadt Aurich ist ebenfalls ein alter Häuptlingssitz. Die Burganlage der friesischen Häuptlinge Cirksena stand einst dort, wo heute das Auricher Schloss zu finden ist.
