Eine Wanderung zu den Westwall-Bunker
Wir beginnen die Wanderung an der Kirche St. Matthias in Simmerath-Strauch. Zum Ende der Tour sollte ein Besuch der Kirche vorgenommen werden. Zunächst geht es jedoch dem Wegekennzeichen Nr. 23 folgend vorbei am Dorfplatz von Strauch und dann bergabwärts ins Tal entlang des Tiefenbaches. Nach rd. 3 Km geht es leicht bergan durch Misch-und Eichenwälder. Nach Hälfte der Wegstrecke erreichen wir auch schon die ersten Bunkeranlagen. Vier Bunker sind noch gut erhalten und Fledermäuse haben hier ihr Zuhause. Es geht weiter leicht bergan zurück zum Ausgangspunkt Kirche. Vom Rursee-Tourismus gibt es hierzu noch einen wander begleitenden Flyer (siehe PDF).
