Insebesondere im August und September eine wunderschöne Wanderung zur Heideblütezeit. Leider brannte im April 5 Tage lang die Heide auf mehreren hundert Hektar ab. Der Brand konnte nur mit Einsatz niederländischer und deutscher Feuerwehren eingedämmt werden. Laut Naturpark Maas-Schwalm-Nette wird sich die Heide jedoch wieder erholen. Der größte Teil der Brandschäden befindet sich auf niederl. Seite, der deutsche Heideteil wurd weitestgehend verschont. Die Wanderung lohnt sich dennoch. Einkehrmöglichkeit nur am "Vennhof" (NL).

Von der Autobahn A 52 Abfahrt Elmpt nehmen, abbiegen Richtung Roermond auf der parallel verlaufenden Landstraße bis kurz vor der Grenze. Vor dem Hotel den Wanderparkplatz nutzen, vorletzte Straße links rein.
