Von Mittelberg aus geht es über den Höhenweg nach Baad und dann hinauf in Richtung Ochsenhofer Scharte. Dann über die innere Stierhofalpe (bewirtschaftet) zum Walmendingerhorn. Von dort kann man entweder zu Fuß nach Mittelberg absteigen oder mit der Seilbahn fahren.

Mit dem Auto von Oberstdorf aus in das Kleinwalsertal bis nach Mittelberg. Parkplätze stehen zumeist ausreichend zur Verfügung, sind aber häufig kostenpflichtig. Alternativ kann man von Oberstdorf auf mit dem Walserbus nach Mittelberg fahren (Linie 1, siehe www.kleinwalsertal.com/aktuell/walserbus.html)
