Die Tour startet am Parkplatz des Aussichtspunkts "Mirador de Chio". Eine Infotafel gibt einen Überblick über die Wegstrecke und Dauer (s. Screenshot).
Man kann über den Viejo bis zum Teide laufen, oder wie wir bis zum Viejo und dann wieder zurück. Beim Aufstieg sind wir dem gekennzeichneten Wanderweg No 9 gefolgt. Der Abstieg verlief etwas abseits und auf nicht markierten Wegen - alles gut zu laufen.
