Very nice tour, that was ridden during end of 2009/beginning of 2010 as a friendship ride organized by the Knights of the Round Table.
First day (Dec 31) was a long and pretty flat ride on tre mainland, while the second day (Jan 1) was short and intensive due to the big hills on the island.
Unfortunately the ride cannot be repeated by individual in this set up, as the Penang Brigde is a highway and not accessible to cyclists. During the ride we were fortunate enough to have a police escort, that took us safely over to the island.
The mainland big loop is kind of standard training loop for the Penang & Kulim-based cyclists and triathletes.
There are also quite a few cycle shops in the area (Butterworth, Goergetown), so in case you need some spare parts, you do not need to worry too much.
