Die Wanderung beginnt am Parkplatz Sand. Direkt an der Kreuzung sind wir entlang des alten Skiliftes (gelbe Raute) hinunter gewandert auf einem schönen 2 m breiten Weg bis zur Hertahütte. Nach ca. 3 km muss man beachten, dass man die Abzweigung hinüber zur Hertahütte nicht verpasst. Wenn man aber den Wegweisern folgt, dürfte dies kein Problem sein. Von der Hertahütte hat man einen schönen Ausblick ins Bühlertal und das Umland im Rheintal. Bei der Kohlbergwiese kann man bestens einkehren und den Rückweg dann über den Plättig antreten.
