Der direkte Weg zur Bonn-Matreier Hütte war aufgrund eines Wettersturzes in der Nacht und Steinschlaggefahr nicht gehbar. Daher blieb nur der Abstieg ins Tal nach Gruben (ca. 1400 hm hinunter). Von dort mit dem Taxi über Matrei nach Obermauern im Virgental und Aufstieg auf die Bonn-Matreier Hütte.
