Rundkurs geht entlang der Ruhr und des Baldeneysees. Verbunden wird die Ruhr hauptsächlich durch eine alte Bahntrasse und ein Stück von der ausgewiesenen Wasserroute Essen.
Die Route sollte nicht umgekehrt werden, da das Stück vom Wetteramt zur Ruhr steil und lang bergrunter geht. Diese Steigung möchte man nicht unbedingt rauf.
