Vom Semmering beim alten Südbahnhotel fährt man die Liechtensteinstraße (MTB Strecke Weltkulturerbe) zum Thalhof (sehr schöne Holzhäuser). Von dort geht es links Richtung Trattenkogel hinauf (ca. 300 hm, und teilweise steil) auf 1400 m hinauf und man fährt den hinteren Bergrücken in Richtung Schmidlruhe entlang. Dabei bekommt man ein tolles Bergpanorama von der Rax, Schneealpe und Veitsch zu sehen. Dort angekommen sieht von dort noch den Semmering und Stuhleck (die Schipisten sind ja nicht zu übersehen) und es geht den den Wallersbachgraben nach Spital/Semmering hinunter auf ca. 800 m Seehöhe. Die altr Semmeringstraße als kleiner Ausklang wieder zurück und fertig:-).
