Ausgangspunkt ist der Wander-PP Marquarstein.
Den ersten Zwischenstop kann man am Windeck machen, hier hat man einen perfekten Blick ins Tal. Anschließend geht es steil am Grat entlang Richtung Schnappenkirche. Von hier aus geht es weiter Richtung Staudacher Alm, an einer Lichtung geht es rechts in den Wald. Kurz danach kommt man an der Madonna vorbei, wer schwindelfrei ist, kann diese erklimmen. Kleines Gipfelbuch ist ebenfalls vorhanden.Jetzt geht es weiter Richtung Hochlerch. Perfekter Ort für eine ausgiebige Pause. Über den Zwölferspitz und Hochgernhaus geht es wieder zurück zum Parkplatz.
