Vom Parkplatz am Ende der Hooker Valley Road hält man sich rechts und folgt dem gut ausgebauten Weg. Noch vor der ersten Brücke über das Wildwasser. Gibt es einen kleinen Abstecher nach links zum Alpine Memorial (Denkmal für die tödlich Verunglückten am Aoraki/Mount Cook). Danach geht es über Hängebrücken, Holzstege und zum Teil hohe, glitschige Stufen zum Gletschersee unterhalb des Mount Cook.
Trotz das dies eine Stichwanderung ist, und man denselben Weg zurück geht, ist der Blick auf dem Hinweg immer Richtung Berge, auf dem Rückweg jedoch öffnet sich die weite Ebene zum Lake Pukaki hin, und man bekommt immer wieder andere Ausblicke
