Nach dem Kreisverkehr fährt man zunächst zur Talstation der Bergbahn. Ab hier geht es einen breiten, geschotterten Weg bergauf, der abwechselnd im Wald und über Almwiesen verläuft. Der Ansteig ist teils sehr steil, aber durchgehend fahrbar.
Als Einkehr bietet sich die Bärenhütte oder die etwas kleinere Unterberghornhütte an.
