Dieser Weg führt vom Parkplatz am Flugfeld aus in Richtung Schafstein der links liegen bleibt um den sogenannten Grumbachborn herum. Von dort aus geht es wieder Richtung Wasserkuppe auf den höchsten Punkt. Von hier aus hat man bei schönem Wetter einen herrlichen Blick auf die Rhönlandschaft.
