Teils durch Wald, teils über Almen führt die Via Alpina den Wanderer auf dem so genannten Herrensteig zur Gablonzer Hütte, die nicht nur einen beeindruckenden Blick auf den Vorderen Gosausee bietet, sondern auch Ausgangspunkt für die Besteigung des sehr aussichtsreichen Großen Donnerkogels (2.055m), sowie für zahlreiche Klettertouren im Gosaukamm, darstellt.
