Wie kommt man auf die Idee auf den Åland-Inseln Urlaub zu machen? Als wir vor einigen Jahren im Winter mit der Fähre von Stockholm nach Turku gefahren sind, haben wir die Inseln zum ersten Mal wahrgenommen. Dann, auf unserer Reise in die Antarktis im Februar 2005, haben wir Agnes aus Schweden kennen gelernt. Sie hat uns erzählt, dass man theoretisch mit dem Kajak von Schweden nach Finnland paddeln kann. Ab da haben wir uns ernsthaft damit beschäftigt, ob das nicht eine Idee für eine mehrwöchige Paddeltour sein könnte. Nun, gute sechs Jahre später, haben wir die Idee in die Tat umgesetzt.
